When selecting refractory insulation for fireplaces, condensing boilers, kilns and heating equipment, many engineers choose between ceramic fiber board, calcium silicate board, MgO board and vermiculite board. Each has its place — but vermiculite board strikes an excellent balanced performance for most appliance OEM and custom lining projects.
✅ Vermiculite Board
- A1 non-combustible, stable up to 1100°C
- Fiber-free inorganic material, no airborne fiber risk, safe for residential heating appliances
- Rigid yet machinable: CNC cut, curved, grooved, drilled, notched into complex one-piece profiles
- Great thermal shock resistance, low shrinkage under repeated heating & cooling cycles
- Good condensate resistance, suitable for condensing boiler combustion chambers
- Lightweight with decent mechanical strength, less prone to chipping than fiber boards
- Density & thickness adjustable to match different working conditions
✅ Quick comparison
▫️ Ceramic fiber board: Higher max temperature, but fibrous, brittle, easy to crumble, potential fiber safety concerns, hard to hold precise custom shapes
▫️ Calcium silicate board: Rigid, but weaker thermal shock resistance, easy to crack under rapid temperature cycling
▫️ MgO / Magnesium oxide board: Good fire rating, but heavier, higher thermal conductivity, limited high-temperature stability
▫️ Gypsum fire board: Low temperature limit, not designed for continuous high-heat appliance use
Our factory supplies custom CNC-machined vermiculite boards from drawings or samples. It is the reliable all-rounder for fireplace liners, boiler insulation baffles, stove parts and industrial kiln linings.
